Pokemon Go is bringing back some of the most powerful Legendaries the game has ever seen - for ONE week only!
IT IS time to test your mettle against the most powerful Pokémon we've yet to see in Pokémon Go.
Legendary Pokémon Kyogre and Groudon return to Raid Battles alongside Rayquaza which means that right now is your best opportunity to catch all three! Here is what we know.
When are Kyogre and Groudon in Pokemon Go??
The Pokémon Go team revealed that the legendaries would be returning to the app from February 23 to March 5, which is actually just a little more than a week.
Raid Battles are up for all three but you will definitely need to some powerful friends and strong Pokémon to take them down and capture them.
On the nature of the event, Niantic said: "If Rayquaza is defeated more than Kyogre and Groudon combined, Pokémon that typically prefer windy weather (for example, Bagon) are more likely to hatch from Eggs from March 5 to March 16.
"If not, Pokémon that prefer sunny or rainy weather (like Trapinch or Lotad) are more likely to hatch."
The battles will be exceptionally difficult and so new Raid Passes are being issued out from February 24.
For how to catch these legendary creatures, take a look below.
below.
How do you catch Kyogre and what are the best counters to take in battle?
In Pokemon GO, the water-type is a Tier 5 Legendary Raid Boss and with a CP of 51,968.
You should have a party of at least 4-5 if you hope to have a chance of defeating Kyogre and capturing it.
He is notoriously difficult to capture due to the distance from the player - this means that throwing a curveball can be a high-risk play.
Because Kyogre floats you will find that it hovers from left to right, once again making this capture extremely difficult.
We would advise that you practice throwing curveballs against other Pokemon, from both left and right sides of the screen.
As Kyogre is straight water-type, forming your team quite an easy process.
The only problems come down to the amount of damage it can do, simply turning your hard-counters into mincemeat.
The best counters are:
- Raikou - Raikou is the best Kyogre counter in the game and can take on any variation of movesets with relative ease.
- Zapdos - the legendary bird has incredible DPS against Kyogre but can be destroyed by a big combo.
- Sceptile - new to Generation 3, Sceptile is an amazing grass counter with access to Leaf Blade. Can do serious damage.
- Exeggutor - this Pokemon can hit Kyogre fast but can be destroyed in one with blizzard - be careful.
- Venusaur - solid grass-based DPS and has more survivability than Exeggutor.
- Jolteon - really good lightning DPS but incredibly squishy - take care if taking Jolteon.
How do you catch Kyogre and what are the best counters to take in battle?
In Pokemon GO, the Ground-type is a Tier 5 Legendary Raid Boss and with a CP of 51,968.
You should have a party of at least 5-6 if you want to actually beat it and capture it.
As Groudon is straight ground-type, forming your team quite an easy process, but this also means he has no double weakness. Clear weather will empower Groudon.
The best counters are:
- Gyarados - Gyarados, armed with Waterfall and Hydro Pump is probably the number one pick.
- Sceptile - This grass Pokemon can be very powerful with classic moves like Bullet Seed and Leaf Blade.
- Ho Oh - If you're lucky enough to have captured one, its Solar Beam can do serious damage.
- Vaporeon- this water Pokemon can hit pretty hard with Water Gun and Hydro Pump.
- Mewtwo - The sheer damage from Confusion and Shadow Ball make Mewtwo an easy counter.
- Venasaur - Everyone's favourite - Venasaur can chunk with Vine Whip and Solar Beam.
