PUBG XBOX UPDATE 1
PUBG developers Bluehole have this morning announced the long awaited ninth patch for the early access PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds on Xbox One.
It's been confirmed that the new patch is going live at 6PM KST / 1AM PST / 10AM CET/ 9AM GMT today.
Obviously you'll need to restart your Xbox after the patch and update has been applied.
ORIGINAL STORY - PUBG fans have been patiently waiting on the games new Xbox One update which for some gamers is taking longer than expected.
But thankfully fans were handed some positive news this week, with Microsoft confirming that PlayerUnknowns' Battlegrounds Xbox One Update 9 had entered testing.
Nico Bihary, Microsoft's Executive Producer, revealed the news to fans in a Reddit post on the games official subreddit.
"Just wanted to let you all know that Patch 9 is now formally in test," Bihary announced.
"We are feeling pretty good about the quality of the patch and the incoming improvements to the player experience.
"We are very motivated to get this into hands as soon as possible, however we also want to ensure that no glaring issues made their way into code.
"Thanks for being patient with us, and you'll hear back from me by the end of the week on release timing."
As mentioned, Nico Bihary also took time to reply to some fans questions on the same Reddit thread. To make things easy, we've highlighted the question in bold and added Nico Bihary's response just underneath in italics.
Q: Is the boat going to stop making not-boat noises
Nico: Confirmed fixed.
Q: Any info on whats included in this upcoming patch? Thanks for keeping us informed too.
Nico: We will release patch notes fairly soon. We want to ensure what was submitted as fixed is validated by the QA team first (don't want to overpromise until confirmed).
Q: I just crashed 3 times while playing for an hour and a half. Its at the point I cant even open my inventory without crashing. Its safe to say we need this patch badly.
Nico: Agreed. We are throwing all of our available resources at this patch to expedite its release. That said, we need to make sure that whatever we release is an overall improvement to the player experience.
Q: By “in test” you mean certification?
Nico: Test and Certification run in parallel and are mutually exclusive. Cert takes a very short amount of time (and is probably the shortest part of the process). Where we want to invest time is in the "Functional" testing of the game. That's where most non-certification and gameplay issues are identified and when the larger scale matches are tested.
Q: There's the word again... "soon" haha
Nico: Fair call out. If things go well expect to see patch notes in 48/72 hours. If we hit some showstoppers, well, expect a different update.
The last message from Nico is perhaps the most interesting. It was made at roughly 5am on February 28th and if the 48-hour mark is to be believed, then we could potentially see an announcement tomorrow morning in the early AM.
However, if the team hit "some showstoppers" as Nico referenced, the news might not arrive until early AM on Saturday, or potentially later.
Either way, Xbox fans don't have long left to wait before they get that all important ninth update to the early access game.
We do also have some clues as to what might be included in this latest update, thanks to PUBG community manager Sammie Kang who recently revealed more about the upcoming Xbox update.
"Our number one priority is optimisation and improving stability of PUBG on Xbox Game Preview. So you will see some meaningful improvements along with some quality of life fixes in the next patch.
"We understand that it can be frustrating to not get a patch or an update for over two weeks when we used to do weekly patches. But we want to make sure that we release a stable patch and make sure it improves your PUBG experience."
If you're hoping for that Miramar desert map, we wouldn't hold your breath.
